APPETIZERS
LIPTAUER CHEESE (US)
This is an appetizer-type recipe and it was one of my mother's, who was Austrian. It's been a favorite of mine for years and every time I share it with others, they can't get enough!! I have one friend for whom I make a personal helping every time I whip it up. Enough build-up already!!!Here it is! Loranne
Ingredients:
2 large (8 oz.) packages of cream cheese (or neufchatel cheese)
4 T. sour cream
2T. yellow mustard
3 t. caraway seed
2 T. chopped dehydrated (or 3 T. finely chopped fresh) onion
1 t. sweet paprika to color
Blend at medium speed or by hand until all is well mixed. You can devour it right away, or eat it a few days later. It seems to get better!! Serve on any cracker (Rye-Crisp, Triscuit are good because they are firmer). Also very tasty on vegetables, pretzels or rye bread. Experiment.....and enjoy!!!!
