REALLY EASY, TOTALLY DECADENT DATE AND CHOCOLATE TORTE
Don't worry if you don't like dates. I don't either, yet I love this!!!!-Caroline in NZ
Grease 23cm springform tin, cover base with foil, grease foil.
3 egg whites
1/2 cup castor sugar
1 cup slivered almonds
3/4 cup finely chopped dates
125g dark chocolate, grated.
300ml carton of cream
50g dark chocolate, grated (Extra)
Beat egg whites until they form a peak, gradually adding castor sugar.
Beat until sugar is dissolved between each addition.
Fold in almonds and chocolate.
Spread mixture into prepared tin and bake about 160 (325) oven for 40 minutes.
Cool in tin. Turn out, remove foil, turn right way up on serving plate.
Cover top with whipped cream, decorate with extra chocolate.
Refrigerate several hours before serving.
